Improv is very subjective. But... here are the basic rules:
Always agree with your partner. If your partner establishes that they're a basketball player. Accept that information AND add to it! (by tossing them a ball)
If your character is a Fireman, just be a fireman -- know what your objective is within the Scene.
Be Specific- Provide Details
Details are the lifeblood of moving a scene forward. Each detail provides clues to what is important.
Improv is about character change. The characters in a scene must experience some type of change for the scene to be interesting. Characters need to go on journeys, be altered by revelations, experience the ramifications of their choices and be moved by emotional moments.
The hidden riddle of improv is that the harder you try not being funny, the more humourous your scene is going to be. Just focus on what's real.
Write The Scene is here for people to have a good time!
There just isn't enough places to go on the internet to be creative. We wanted to create a place where people can randomly meet and create worlds together. As improvisers, we wanted to bring that magic to the internet.
